World Orphan Drugs Congress 2021 is taking place this week in Sitges. WODC offers an approach to the whole orphan drug situation. It has become, trough the editions, the largest and most established European event in this field. In this 12th edition, the annual event will gather experts from the whole value chain in the same spot, where decision makers will share their knowledge and experience with the aim to shape the orphan drug landscape and to work on future opportunities.
Oriol Solà-Morales, president of Fundació HiTT, will be attending this Congress as an expert and strategic advisor for market access. He will offer an approach to access for rare diseases and debate how to navigate conflict, compromise, and collaboration in this sector, as he has an extensive professional experience in this field.
Startups can be the key to solve the limitations of the traditional pharmaceutical sector, where orphan drugs rarely had a place. Startups can be the boosters of a paradigm shift through innovation in this field, creating a more inclusive system able respond to the needs of a wider range of the society.
Along with other professionals in the pharma field, they will address the opportunities and challenges for the commercialization of drugs to treat rare diseases. The aim of this talk is to present an exploration of this area and to offer innovative solutions that can take into amount investment, innovation, partnership and public-private collaboration.
